86. At-Tariq (الطارق)
بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمـٰنِ الرَّحيمِ
Verse 1
وَالسَّماءِ وَالطّارِقِ
Translation
By the sky and the night comer –

وَما أَدرىٰكَ مَا الطّارِقُ
Translation
and how do you know what the night comer is?

النَّجمُ الثّاقِبُ
Translation
It is the star of piercing brightness[1] –

إِن كُلُّ نَفسٍ لَمّا عَلَيها حافِظٌ
Translation
there is no soul except that there is a watcher over it.

فَليَنظُرِ الإِنسـٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
Translation
Let man reflect on what he was created from.

خُلِقَ مِن ماءٍ دافِقٍ
Translation
He was created from a spurting fluid,

يَخرُجُ مِن بَينِ الصُّلبِ وَالتَّرائِبِ
Translation
emerging from between the backbone and the ribs[1].

Indeed, Allah is able to bring him back to life.

يَومَ تُبلَى السَّرائِرُ
Translation
On the Day when all secrets will be disclosed[1],

فَما لَهُ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلا ناصِرٍ

he will then have no power, nor any helper.

فَمَهِّلِ الكـٰفِرينَ أَمهِلهُم رُوَيدًا

So bear with the disbelievers and respite them for a while[1].
