85. Al-Buruj (البروج)
بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمـٰنِ الرَّحيمِ
Verse 1
وَالسَّماءِ ذاتِ البُروجِ
Translation
By the sky full of constellations,

وَاليَومِ المَوعودِ

and by the promised Day,

وَشاهِدٍ وَمَشهودٍ

قُتِلَ أَصحـٰبُ الأُخدودِ
Translation
cursed be the makers of the trench[1],

النّارِ ذاتِ الوَقودِ
Translation
the fire full of fuel,

إِذ هُم عَلَيها قُعودٌ
Translation
when they sat around it,

وَهُم عَلىٰ ما يَفعَلونَ بِالمُؤمِنينَ شُهودٌ
Translation
and were witnessing what they did to the believers[1].

وَما نَقَموا مِنهُم إِلّا أَن يُؤمِنوا بِاللَّهِ العَزيزِ الحَميدِ
Translation
Their only grievance against them was that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, the Praiseworthy,

الَّذى لَهُ مُلكُ السَّمـٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلىٰ كُلِّ شَىءٍ شَهيدٌ
Translation
to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and earth, and Allah is Witness over all things.

Verse 10
إِنَّ الَّذينَ فَتَنُوا المُؤمِنينَ وَالمُؤمِنـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَم يَتوبوا فَلَهُم عَذابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُم عَذابُ الحَريقِ
Translation
Indeed, for those who tortured the believing men and women, and then did not repent, there will be the punishment of Hell and the punishment of the burning fire[1].

Verse 11
إِنَّ الَّذينَ ءامَنوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّـٰلِحـٰتِ لَهُم جَنّـٰتٌ تَجرى مِن تَحتِهَا الأَنهـٰرُ ۚ ذٰلِكَ الفَوزُ الكَبيرُ
Translation
But those who believed and did righteous deeds will certainly have gardens under which rivers flow; that is the supreme triumph.

إِنَّ بَطشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَديدٌ
Translation
Indeed, the punishment of your Lord is severe.

Indeed, it is He Who originates [the creation] and then resurrects all,

and He is the All-Forgiving, the Most Affectionate,

although Allah encompasses them from all sides.
