61. As-Saff (الصف)
بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمـٰنِ الرَّحيمِ
Verse 1
سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ ما فِى السَّمـٰوٰتِ وَما فِى الأَرضِ ۖ وَهُوَ العَزيزُ الحَكيمُ
Translation
All that is in the heavens and all that is on earth glorifies Allah, for He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

Verse 2
يـٰأَيُّهَا الَّذينَ ءامَنوا لِمَ تَقولونَ ما لا تَفعَلونَ
Translation
O you who believe, why do you say what you do not do?

كَبُرَ مَقتًا عِندَ اللَّهِ أَن تَقولوا ما لا تَفعَلونَ
Translation
It is most loathsome to Allah that you say what you do not do.

Verse 4
إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الَّذينَ يُقـٰتِلونَ فى سَبيلِهِ صَفًّا كَأَنَّهُم بُنيـٰنٌ مَرصوصٌ
Translation
Indeed, Allah loves those who fight in His way in firm ranks, as if they were a solid structure.

Verse 5
وَإِذ قالَ موسىٰ لِقَومِهِ يـٰقَومِ لِمَ تُؤذونَنى وَقَد تَعلَمونَ أَنّى رَسولُ اللَّهِ إِلَيكُم ۖ فَلَمّا زاغوا أَزاغَ اللَّهُ قُلوبَهُم ۚ وَاللَّهُ لا يَهدِى القَومَ الفـٰسِقينَ
Translation
And [remember] when Moses said to his people, “O my people, why do you hurt me when you know that I am a messenger of Allah to you?” So when they chose to deviate, Allah caused their hearts to deviate, for Allah does not guide the rebellious people.

Verse 6
وَإِذ قالَ عيسَى ابنُ مَريَمَ يـٰبَنى إِسرٰءيلَ إِنّى رَسولُ اللَّهِ إِلَيكُم مُصَدِّقًا لِما بَينَ يَدَىَّ مِنَ التَّورىٰةِ وَمُبَشِّرًا بِرَسولٍ يَأتى مِن بَعدِى اسمُهُ أَحمَدُ ۖ فَلَمّا جاءَهُم بِالبَيِّنـٰتِ قالوا هـٰذا سِحرٌ مُبينٌ
Translation
And [remember] when Jesus, son of Mary, said, “O Children of Israel, I am truly a messenger of Allah to you, confirming the Torah which came before me, and giving glad tidings of a messenger after me whose name will be Ahmad[1].” But when he came to them with clear proofs, they said, “This is clear magic.”

Some scholars believe that this verse refers to John 14:16, where Jesus says: “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Paraclete, to be with you forever.” Paraclete in Greek means ‘the praised one.’ Prophet Muhammad's (ﷺ) name is mentioned several times in the Gospel of Barnabas, which the Christian authorities deem as apocryphal Bible.

Verse 7
وَمَن أَظلَمُ مِمَّنِ افتَرىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ الكَذِبَ وَهُوَ يُدعىٰ إِلَى الإِسلـٰمِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ لا يَهدِى القَومَ الظّـٰلِمينَ
Translation
Who could be more wrong than the one who fabricates lies against Allah when invited to Islam? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

Verse 8
يُريدونَ لِيُطفِـٔوا نورَ اللَّهِ بِأَفوٰهِهِم وَاللَّهُ مُتِمُّ نورِهِ وَلَو كَرِهَ الكـٰفِرونَ
Translation
They wish to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah will complete His light, even though the disbelievers dislike it.

Verse 9
هُوَ الَّذى أَرسَلَ رَسولَهُ بِالهُدىٰ وَدينِ الحَقِّ لِيُظهِرَهُ عَلَى الدّينِ كُلِّهِ وَلَو كَرِهَ المُشرِكونَ
Translation
It is He Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth, so that He may make it prevail over all religions, even though the polytheists may dislike it.

Verse 10
يـٰأَيُّهَا الَّذينَ ءامَنوا هَل أَدُلُّكُم عَلىٰ تِجـٰرَةٍ تُنجيكُم مِن عَذابٍ أَليمٍ
Translation
O you who believe, shall I tell you about a trade that will save you from a painful punishment?

Verse 11
تُؤمِنونَ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسولِهِ وَتُجـٰهِدونَ فى سَبيلِ اللَّهِ بِأَموٰلِكُم وَأَنفُسِكُم ۚ ذٰلِكُم خَيرٌ لَكُم إِن كُنتُم تَعلَمونَ
Translation
It is to believe in Allah and His Messenger and to struggle in the way of Allah with your wealth and your lives. That is better for you, if only you knew.

Verse 12
يَغفِر لَكُم ذُنوبَكُم وَيُدخِلكُم جَنّـٰتٍ تَجرى مِن تَحتِهَا الأَنهـٰرُ وَمَسـٰكِنَ طَيِّبَةً فى جَنّـٰتِ عَدنٍ ۚ ذٰلِكَ الفَوزُ العَظيمُ
Translation
He will forgive you your sins and admit you to gardens under which rivers flow, and pleasant dwellings in Gardens of Eternity. That is the supreme triumph.

Verse 13
وَأُخرىٰ تُحِبّونَها ۖ نَصرٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَفَتحٌ قَريبٌ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ المُؤمِنينَ
Translation
And [He will grant you] another favor that you love: help from Allah [against your enemies] and an imminent conquest. Give glad tidings to the believers.

Verse 14
يـٰأَيُّهَا الَّذينَ ءامَنوا كونوا أَنصارَ اللَّهِ كَما قالَ عيسَى ابنُ مَريَمَ لِلحَوارِيّـۧنَ مَن أَنصارى إِلَى اللَّهِ ۖ قالَ الحَوارِيّونَ نَحنُ أَنصارُ اللَّهِ ۖ فَـٔامَنَت طائِفَةٌ مِن بَنى إِسرٰءيلَ وَكَفَرَت طائِفَةٌ ۖ فَأَيَّدنَا الَّذينَ ءامَنوا عَلىٰ عَدُوِّهِم فَأَصبَحوا ظـٰهِرينَ
Translation
O you who believe, be supporters of Allah’s cause, as Jesus, son of Mary, said to the disciples, “Who will be my supporters for Allah’s cause?” The disciples said, “We are the supporters of Allah’s cause.” Then a group of the Children of Israel believed and another disbelieved. We then supported those who believed against their enemies, so they prevailed.
